Episode 3B: More Mittens.

Or your favorite pair of mittens you've knit?  Sherri's favorite mittens she's knit are her Norwegian Mittens from Elizabeth Zimmermann's book Knitting Around .  Tamara's favorite thing about mittens is how warm they keep tiny hands. (Any hands really but it mattered even more when they were tiny). Tamara follows the same simple mitten recipe for almost every mitten she knits that she pulled together from a combination of the mitten numbers in the Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns and her own notes from knitting all the mittens.

She also likes Rafa's Hat by Joji Locatelli. And she likes to make hats to donate through a LYS. If it is a hat that can be knit while at the movies, bonus points! Tamara's favorite gift hat is Judy , a basic ponytail hat. She usually takes yarn along with her to knit during the holidays as a way to keep calm and happy during the holiday stress. People were snatching the Judy ponytail hat out the gift basket (and off of her needles) as fast as she could knit them on

It wasn't until college when Sherri bought an angora rabbit at a craft fair that she joined the weaving guild she knew about because of her friendship with Tamara. It was through the guild that Sherri bought a loom from the K-State disbanded weaving program and also learned to spin. After graduating college, Sherri moved to Kansas City and was again living locally to Tamara. When Tamara mentioned knitting mittens but ended up not learning she gave the needles and book to Sherri.
